Two Sérvulo associates conclude respective PhDs with flying colours

NEWS AND EVENTS 01 Aug 2016

Having always been committed to academic excellence as part of its DNA, SÉRVULO recently witnessed two of its associates obtain their respective PhDs with flying colours.

Rita Canas da Silva, associate and co-head of SÉRVULO's Employment department, obtained hers on July 22 from the Faculty of Law of the Nova University of Lisbon. The thesis, focused on her area of specialisation, covered the theme of the suspension of the employment contract, and was awarded the highest grade, cum laude and distinction.

Ana Filipa Morais Antunes, associate of SÉRVULO's Corporate, Commercial and M&A department, concluded her PhD in an equallly brilliant manner, on July 25, at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal. Her thesis dealt with the central theme of business in breach of law from the perspective of its conceptual autonomy, and it was awarded the top mark of 18/20. Ana Filipa Morais Antunes proposes an original take on the subject, characterized by breaking with some of the classic postulates in the field of breach of law.

These two academic achievements follow in the wake of SÉRVULO partner Diogo Feio, head of the Tax department, having obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto, in March of this year, and, more recently, of the agrégation of Rui Medeiros, Public Law partner, as Professor of the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal.
