Event about new RGPD marks the autonomy of the area of Privacy and Data Protection

NEWS AND EVENTS 27 Jun 2017

Next Thursday, 29th, between 09h30 and 11h00, SÉRVULO promotes a breakfast on the new General Regulation on Data Protection (RGPD). The event aims to present the main changes imposed by the new regulation to companies.

Inconsistent and transversal to all business sectors and public entities dealing with personal data, the new general data protection regulation was published on May 4, 2016, and will apply in all EU Member States from the day May 25, 2018.

New paradigm

Instead of the current system of notifications and prior authorizations for processing of personal data, the new regulation introduces new procedures, imposing new obligations on the controllers or developing some that are already in place. The penalties for infringement are exacerbated, with fines of up to 4% of the annual turnover or € 20,000,000.00. It is therefore imperative to be prepared.

The growing importance of data protection

This will be the first of several initiatives that mark the autonomy of SÉRVULO's area of privacy and data protection. Regarding autonomization, the partner responsible for the area, José Lobo Moutinho, said that this was inevitable given the growing importance of the topic for companies and the need to adapt them to the new regulation. The team also has João Carmona Dias, Rita Serrano and Pedro Baptista Lima.
