Governance Lab launches book in Mozambique

NEWS AND EVENTS 17 Nov 2014

Maputo will be the stage for Governance Lab’s next book launch. The work, on the governance of corporations in Lusophone legal systems (A Governação das Sociedades Anónimas nos Sistemas Jurídicos Lusófonos), is the organisation’s first one with an international outlook.

The event takes place on November 20 at the Portuguese Cultural Centre, and will include interventions by Alexandra Pinho, Director of the Camões Institute, Anabela Chambuca, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mozambique Stock Exchange, Telmo Ferreira, lawyer and member of Governance Lab and Paulo Câmara, also a lawyer, as well as the coordinator of Governance Lab.

The book in question analyses the governance of corporations in Portuguese-speaking countries, forming a collection of expositions on Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Portugal and São Tomé and Príncipe.

Governance Lab is a group dedicated to the legal research and the critical reflection on themes related to the governance of organisations, be these public or private, trying, in this way, to actively contribute to the development of the practices, recommendations and legal norms involved in this area.

Currently composed of 38 members from various fields, thereby allowing to combine practical experience and academic analysis, Governance Lab has already published five books, on the Commercial Companies and Corporate Governance Code (2008), on the Conflict of Interests in Company and Finance Law: a balance of the financial crisis (2010), on The Governance of Organisations: the expansive vocation of Corporate Governance (2011), an Annotated Companies Code (2012), and on the Governance of Public Administration (2013), all published by Almedina.

The initiatives and reflections of the authors of Governance Lab are published and open to comment at www.governancelab.org.
