Domestic Violence – On the path to integrated Justice

SÉRVULO IN THE PRESS 17 Dec 2019 in Advogar

Cláudia Amorim, a partner in the Litigation and Arbitration department, has written an article for Advogar’s penal column about the new draft law designed to combat the scourge of domestic violence. The draft, which is currently out for public consultation, aims to address the weaknesses of judicial protection when coordination between the various jurisdictions involved is required.

“It is a fact that domestic violence is a multidimensional phenomenon that interferes with all the victim’s life plans and the situation is even more acute when there are minors in the family,” she wrote.

She also states that the communication between family and juvenile jurisdiction, on the one hand, and criminal jurisdiction, on the other, is far from as effective as it should be. In many cases, the two realties appear to be completely separate, which damages and complicates the repair of victims, whether adult or minor.
