Maria João de Novais

Maria João de Novais, founding and managing partner of MJN ADVOGADOS, graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon in 1992. She is a member of the Portuguese and Cape Verdean Bar Associations. Before settling permanently in Cape Verde, she worked in both countries for many years.

Maria João was a member and spokesperson of the Cape Verde National Elections Commission from December 18, 2007 to May 2015.

She has written several articles and has participated as a speaker and/or moderator in lectures of various types.

She is Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (since March 2014) and Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium (since January 2016).

She is fluent in Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Creole.
