Rodrigo de Oliveira graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon in 1999, the year he began his internship in Ponta Delgada with his father, Frederico de Oliveira. He registered with the Bar in 2002 and began to practice law with his father, collaborating, since 2019, with LCCA, law firm of Ponta Delgada.
Since January 2019, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), by appointment of the Prime Minister of Portugal.
He is also a guest assistant of the Department of Economics and Law of the University of the Azores, collaborating, since 2004, through the teaching of the disciplines of Public International Law, Private International Law, Diplomatic and Consular Law and Maritime Law. He has a Master’s in International Relations from the same University. He has published articles in Portugal, Brazil and France and has been a guest speaker at conferences in several European countries, the USA, Canada, Brazil, Cape Verde and China.
Rodrigo was a member of the Azores Regional Government from 2006 to 2016, with the positions of Regional Undersecretary of the Presidency for External Relations (2012/2016), Regional Undersecretary for European Affairs and External Cooperation (2008/2012) and Regional Director for European Affairs and Cooperation Foreign Affairs (2006/2008), with competence in matters of European Union affairs, external cooperation, Azorean Communities and immigration.
He was a member of the National Council of the National Association of Young Portuguese Lawyers and a trainee in the Azorean Regional Council of the Bar Association. He was also an alternate member of the European Committee of the Regions and the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, as well as Vice-President of the Islands Commission of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe.
