Maria Joana Cabral

At SÉRVULO since 2016, Maria Joana Cabral was first a Trainee Lawyer, and is now an Associate in the Litigation and Arbitration department. She concluded the Master’s in Forensic Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University, for which she is currently working on her Master’s thesis on the same area. She graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, in 2014. She was a trainee lawyer at the firm «Macedo Vitorino & Associados», between 2015 and 2016. She joined the Bar Association in 2017.

Relevant Experience

Assisting in sanctions procedures, namely in criminal, administrative offences, financial and disciplinary cases, both on the defence and on the prosecution side. Special focus on the area of major economic regulation (banking, capital markets, competition and media), in white-collar crime (economical-financial or of employees), in tax crimes and in crimes against property and honour and in crimes against persons.

Assisting in civil and commercial litigation cases before judicial courts, namely in contractual and non-contractual liability cases, as well as on insolvency and companies restructuring procedures, including the liquidation of financial and credit institutions.
