Miguel Brito Bastos

At SÉRVULO since 2009, Miguel Brito Bastos has been External Counsel at the firm since 2013. He holds a graduate degree in the Sanctioning Law of Regulatory Authorities from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (2009). He was awarded a specialisation in Civil Law by the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, in 2011, and he has been a doctoral candidate, researching the field of Legal Sciences, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, since 2012. He has been a lecturer at the same institution since 2009, year in which he graduated, from the same university. He coordinates the Advanced Graduate Course in Banking Law, and he has been a lecturer on the graduate courses in Company Law and in Corporate Governance of the Private Law Research Centre (CIPD - Centro de Investigação de Direito Privado) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, since 2015. He has authored numerous articles, especially on the subjects of banking law, securities law, and company law, and he is a frequent speaker at conferences on the same subjects. He joined the Bar Association in 2013.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Legal advice on matters relating to banking law, capital markers law, and to civil law in general, including in terms of assisting with the drafting of policy proposals.

Legal assistance to clients in financing transactions and in financial intermediation activities (both in contractual and in regulatory matters).

Advising clients on disputes related to the application of savers protection schemes.

Drafting legal opinions related to his areas of specialistion.

Acting as arbitrator on civil and commercial law cases.
