Sérvulo’s specialised legal services in the field of land use planning focus on sector plans for the environment and special zoning plans, particularly as applied to coastal zones, protected areas, estuaries and public catchment areas.
Sérvulo also has extensive experience in providing legal advice on the preparation of municipal plans for land use, specifically municipal master plans, urbanisation plans and detailed plans. It is also able to offer legal support for the development of regional land use plans.

Urban Planning

In the Urban Planning area our team provides legal support for the licensing of land use operations – division into lots, urbanisation work, construction and the reconstruction, extension, modification and demolition of buildings. This includes support for the definition of urban planning strategies for real estate investment and the licensing of industry, commerce and tourist facilities. For this practice area, specific mention must also be made of the legal services provided for urban planning litigation.

Environment

The environmental legal services provided are mainly focused on legal advisement and support in areas such as water, waste, energy, land use and emissions trading, among others.
In the water sector, our most significant work relates to the support we provide for strategic planning activities and water quality management. Of particular note is the licensing of the private use of water resources, urban wastewater drainage and treatment, and the services covered by the municipal and multi-municipal water supply systems.
As regards the waste sector, Sérvulo has developed important legal support services for the collection, treatment and recycling of waste.
Our team’s expertise is particularly evident in the development of Environmental Impact Studies (EIS) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). Sérvulo also has extensive experience in providing legal advice on other relevant matters, such as environmental procurement, the issuance of environmental permits and environmental litigation.
