Patrícia Akester, Of Counsel at Sérvulo in the area of Intellectual Property and specialist in copyright law, commented in the Portuguese weekly magazine Revista Expresso how the internet downloads market has affected the revenue of the entertainment market, while also being a good indicator of the preferences of the public. Ms Akester clarifies what must be considered illegal or not under Portuguese law: according to the lawyer, downloading a television series or a film or viewing them in streaming should not, in principle, be considered illegal, if it is done within a private social circle and not for commercial ends.
