Rui Medeiros participates in debate on European and National constitutionalism in a crisis context

NEWS AND EVENTS 03 May 2012

The meeting of the European Institute, which takes place tomorrow, at 6pm at the Atrium Saldanha Almedina bookshop, is entitled “The Future of European and National constitutionalism in a crisis context” and will feature the participation of Ana Guerra Martinez, Professor at the Law Faculty of Lisbon University and judge of the Constitutional Court, and Rui Medeiros, partner at SÉRVULO, Professor of Law at the Catholic University of Lisbon and author, among other works, of the Annotated Portuguese Constitution.

The organization, headed by Eduardo Paz Ferreira and Nuno Cunha Rodrigues, states that the opportunity for debate is evident, at a time when new questions arise, of a legal (particularly with regards to the reduction of constitutional rights at a national level due to emergency situations motivated by the economic crisis, as advocated by some), political (as with the dispute between the European Commission and Hungary) and financial nature (with the discussion on the constitutional dimension of the so-called “golden rule”).
