Tiago Fidalgo de Freitas, member of the legal team of Sérvulo & Associados, was guest speaker at an international conference entitled “On bits of Europe everywhere: Overseas possessions of the EU Member States in the legal-political context of European Law”, held on 14th and 15th December 2009 and convened by the Groningen University Faculty of Law, in the Netherlands.
With an address entitled “An ever-expanding regional autonomy for overseas territories?”, Tiago Fidalgo de Freitas explored the ways in which the Portuguese experience on the subject of legislative autonomy of the Autonomous Regions of Azores and Madeira could contribute to the drafting or refinement of models of shared competences amongst different territorial entities.
