135 leaders and their thoughts on 2020

SÉRVULO IN THE PRESS 02 Jan 2020 in Jornal Negócios

The 11th Jornal de Negócios survey of national leaders focuses on forecasts for 2020.

SÉRVULO’s Managing Partner Paulo Câmara expects this year to be underpinned by a new purpose. On the one hand, new Portuguese and European legislative cycles will start in 2020, and legislative revisions are expected in the areas of listed company shareholder rights, pension funds, prospectuses, preventive restructuring and debt relief, all of which involve transpositions from European law. A number of key changes will take effect in 2020: the amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure, the new framework for foundations and investment funds and the regulation of the additional social contribution triggered by excessive employee churn, which will penalise fixed-term employment contracts. On the other hand, in the area of corporate governance, 2020 will probably see worldwide support for the Business Roundtable Manifesto on corporate purpose, which aims to align governance with stakeholders.
