Chambers Legal 2009

NEWS AND EVENTS 06 Mar 2009

2009 edition of  "Chambers Legal - the World's Leading Lawyers for business" ranked SÉRVULO in Band 3 in two of the four researched practice areas in Portugal. Corporate/ M&A and Dispute Resolution are representing Sérvulo's continous commitment to excelence.

Corporate/M&A
This compact corporate team has continued to take solid steps towards gaining a firm foothold in the market over the past year, considerably raising its profile by advising Enercon on the biggest public tender process in Portugal. The firm is also retained on a continuous basis by RTP, the Portuguese state TV broadcasting company, and advised it on the restructuring of the RTP group, including the merger of several of the existing group companies into the company SGPS. Peers note that Fernando Ferreira Pinto is a “tremendous and skilled professional,” and experienced lawyer and executive partner António Teles attracts praise for his “classic, traditional approach and excellent transactional abilities.”

Dispute Resolution
As Portugal’s leading public law firm, SÉRVULO understandably stands out in the field of public law litigation, and competitors concede it has “a strong, solid team for both litigation and arbitration.” Lawyers represented Emic in an extra-contractual civil liability claim against the Portuguese state for violation of public tender obligations in relation to gaming rights. The team also assists with civil commercial and corporate crime litigation. Corporate lawyer Fernando Ferreira Pinto is highlighted for his participation in arbitration proceedings. “A relatively young lawyer with great potential,” Ricardo Guimarães caught the eye of several clients with his “ability to make the right decisions quickly – if he is handling a matter you can relax and know your case is in good hands.”
