Jorge Silva Sampaio comments on new rental law

SÉRVULO IN THE PRESS 07 Jul 2012 in i

In the daily newspaper i, Jorge Silva Sampaio, of Sérvulo's environmental, urban planning and real estate department, comments on the government's delay in publishing forms for landlords to declare low rents in order to pay a reduced municipal property tax. The new Portuguese rental law aims to update urban rents that are below market value, but, in the provisions that allow tenants to keep on paying low rents, there is a clause which allows landlords to pay the municipal real estate tax in line with the rent they are receiving rather than with the value of the property.
