Paulo Câmara takes part in conference on AIFMD in Lichtenstein

Lichtenstein organises a yearly conference on Investment Funds, and this year the theme of the conference is the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD). The event takes place today at the Institute for Financial Services of the University of Lichtenstein, and Paulo Câmara, partner at SÉRVULO and specialist in Financial Law and Governance, chairs the session Policy Perspectives and Manager Regulation, and in the session Alternative Investment Strategies (Hedge Funds and Private Equity) he presents a paper on Institutional Investors and Corporate Governance – Impact of the AIFMD?

Known internationally as the AIFMD, Directive 2011/61/EU is currently seen as the new basic law of investment funds, especially at a time when the financial crisis of the last couple of years has accelerated the speed at which EU regulation develops. With this is mind, the AIFMD presents a new challenge for all interested parties, such as fund managers, financial intermediaries, institutional investors, regulators and academics, and it is fundamental to have some understanding of it. This one-day conference aims to bring together specialists from the different strands of the field of investment funds in order to discuss the various perspectives on the AIFMD in terms of national implementation, its risks and impacts.
