Debate on current challenges to banking sector marks launch of new Sérvulo publication

NEWS AND EVENTS 17 Sep 2012

September 20 marks the launch of the book O Novo Direito Bancário (The New Banking Law), authored by lawyers of SÉRVULO’s Financial & Governance department and edited by Paulo Câmara e Manuel Magalhães. The event takes place at the Grémio Literário, the literary guild, in Lisbon.

The work in question, published by Almedina, comes at an extremely relevant time for the banking sector and it analyses the renewal of the Portuguese banking law arising from the cross-influence between international harmonization and internal responses to the financial crisis. This book also analyses the emergence of new products, of new players in the banking system, new risks, new banking duties, new themes covered by banking regulation, new regulatory and supervisory structures and new sources of regulation.

The presentation of the book is in the hands of economist Prof. António Nogueira Leite, followed by a debate that will include interventions from economist Prof. Fernando Adão da Fonseca and will be moderated by the journalist Helena Garrido.
