Manuel Magalhães

At SÉRVULO since 2011, Manuel Magalhães is currently the firm’s Managing Partner and partner in the Finance and Governance department, and also co-heads the Restructuring and Insolvency department and the Real Estate, Tourism and Urban Planning department. He is a member of the International Bar Association. Manuel Magalhães was a partner of «Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira», between 2000 and 2011, law firm at which he started and developed his professional career. Manuel Magalhães was also founding partner of the law firm «H. Gamito, Couto, Gonçalves Pereira e Castelo Branco», in Mozambique, between 1998 and 2003. He has been a member of the Bar Association since 1992.

Relevant Experience

Extensive practice in the area of asset management, advising a wide range of developers, investors, management companies (SGOICs), venture capital companies (SCRs) and collective investment undertakings (CIUs), in particular alternative real estate investment vehicles, on all matters relating to their incorporation, operation and financing, business activity and liquidation, including mergers and other restructuring and reorganisation transactions, as well as the establishment of management companies of both small and large scale, and on all regulatory matters relating to their activity.

Experience in Banking and Finance Law, particularly in M&A transactions, the incorporation of credit institutions and financial companies, the establishment of branches, structured finance operations, and the provision of regulatory advice to credit institutions and financial companies in connection with a wide range of transactions relevant to their activity.

Solid experience in insolvency and restructuring matters, particularly in the restructuring of banking operations.

Recognised expertise in Insurance Law, both from a regulatory perspective and in advising on the structuring and distribution of insurance products.

Solid experience in the real estate and tourism sectors, including advising on the acquisition and development of real estate or tourism projects, as well as on the day-to-day activity of various developers and real estate and tourism companies.
