João Amaral e Almeida quoted with regards to new law limiting local authority mandates

SÉRVULO IN THE PRESS 28 Aug 2013 in Diário de Notícias

João Amaral e Almeida, SÉRVULO partner and lawyer specialized in administrative law, was quoted by the Portuguese daily Diário de Notícias on the new law limiting the number of successive mandates that elected local authority officials can undertake. In an article that Mr. Amaral wrote on the matter (and which can be found here, in Portuguese), the lawyer noticed that there was a difference in definite and indefinite article, respectively, between the version of the bill that had been passed and that which had been published in the Parliament's bulletin, potentially raising the question whether the limitation refers to a local authority in particular or to any local authority. However, according to Mr. Amaral, the law should be interpreted referring to the latter.
