Launch of book on Medicinal Products Law

NEWS AND EVENTS 26 May 2009

Today, 26 May 2009, Paulo Pinheiro and Miguel Gorjão-Henriques presented their new book, Direito do Medicamento, published by Coimbra Editora, in cooperation with the Biomedical Law Centre at the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Law.

At the launch session, to be held at the Hotel Altis Belém, the co-authors are due to speak briefly about their work, and the book itself will be presented by Dr. Gomes Esteves (Vice-Chairman of the Confederation of Portuguese Industry and Chairman of the General Meeting of Apifarma, the Portuguese industrial association in the pharmaceuticals sector).

The book, numbering more than 1000 pages, contains an article-by-article commentary on the Medicinal Products Statute, dealing with issues such as marketing authorizations, manufacture, importation, distribution, promotion, advertising and drug monitoring.

Medicinal products law is a vast field offering many points of interest, and this is the first legal work in Portugal dealing exclusively with this area of law. At a time when medicinal products policy is the focus of considerable debate, the new book fills an evident need.
