NEWS AND EVENTS 28 Nov 2025
On 11 December at 18:00, the Grand Hall of the Portuguese Bar Association will host the launch of the collective work “Revisiting the Liberal Constitutional Features of the European Union”, published by Springer and promoted by the Portuguese Association for European Law (APDE).
Coordinated by Miguel Gorjão-Henriques and Inês Quadros, this publication brings together a group of Portuguese scholars specialising in European Union Law, offering a critical and contemporary reflection on the constitutional and liberal features shaping the European project.
The session will be attended by the coordinators and chaired by João Massano, President of the Portuguese Bar Association, with contributions from Carlos Botelho Moniz, President of APDE’s Scientific Council and Professor at the Institute for Political Studies of the Catholic University, and Rita Leandro Vasconcelos, President of APDE’s Executive Board.
Published by Springer, the book addresses key topics such as the crisis of the Rule of Law and judicial independence; the autonomy of European Union Law; and the legal-political tensions and contemporary challenges of EU policies. Featuring original contributions from the coordinators, including articles on the exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the independence of the judiciary, this work constitutes an essential reference for researchers, academics, and professionals in the field.
