Sérvulo Correia appointed to the ICSID

NEWS AND EVENTS 28 Feb 2011

ICSID - International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes is a body connected to the World Bank, according to the terms of the Washington Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States, of 18/03/1965. It aims to resolve disputes, directly arising from investments, between contracting states and nationals of other contracting states, through conciliation and arbitration.

The ICSID holds lists of conciliators and arbitrators, comprised of qualified people who are nominated by the contracting states. The conciliation process aims to promote an agreement between the parties involved in a dispute.

By order of the Minister of Finance, of 02/03/2011, the Portuguese Government named Prof. Sérvulo Correia as one of the Portuguese members on the conciliators’ list.
