Sérvulo takes part in conference on governance in the water sector

The international conference “Redrafting Water Governance” takes place on October 8 and 9 at the auditorium of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. The event is organized by the Public Law Research Centre (Centro de Investigação de Direito Público), in partnership with the Instituto Superior Técnico.

SÉRVULO is one of the event’s sponsors, and two of its lawyers, Mark Kirkby and Ana Luísa Guimarães, respectively, partner and associate of the Public Law department, are part of the organizing committee.

The main theme of the conference is the governance restructuring of the water sector and the extent of this restructuring (e.g. management, resources, regulation). Several issues will be debated, such as the institutional, administrative and legal instruments and the role of the Public Administration, the operators and consumers; the principles of good governance and their promotion through appropriate tools and mechanisms; the performance, service levels, quality and role of governance in practical aspects; innovative solutions to governance mechanisms and related best practices and socio-economic aspects.
