Mafalda Ferreira Santos

At SÉRVULO since 2018, Mafalda Ferreira Santos is a partner in the firm’s Litigation department, focusing her practice in the areas of Restructuring and Insolvency and Arbitration. She holds a Master’s in Legal Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. Mafalda Ferreira Santos started her professional career in 1997 at the law firm «F. Castelo Branco, P. Rebelo de Sousa & Associados - Sociedade de Advogados» (Portuguese Legal Group, AEIE) and in «P. Rebelo de Sousa & Associados, Simmons & Simmons.». From 2003 to 2013 Mafalda Ferreira Santos  was an associate at the law firm «Gonçalves Pereira, Castelo Branco & Associados», currently «Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, SP, RL», where she became partner in 2013. Mafalda Ferreira Santos has lectured the Interdisciplinary Juridical Practice discipline from 2004 to 2017, at the Faculty of Law of the Nova University of Lisbon. She joined the Bar Association in 1997.

Relevant Experience

Mafalda has focused her professional activity mainly in the area of judicial and extrajudicial dispute resolution, representing national and foreign clients, in cases of civil and commercial litigation (including national and international arbitration), insolvency and restructuring of companies, consumer disputes, competition and European Union law matters. The main projects in which she has provided legal advice in recent years include commercial law operations (advice on all relevant litigation and arbitration matters), judicial liquidation of credit institutions, restructuring and insolvency, representing creditors and debtors, litigation and arbitration arising out of contracts for the purchase and sale of goods and services, distribution and agency agreements, disputes relating to infringements of competition law, corporate relations, advertising, industrial property, copyright and related rights, banking, insurance, consumer disputes, generally advising service providers or goods suppliers.
