SÉRVULO launches the first issue of the collection “Cadernos Sérvulo” of 2016. This paper is written by António Cadilha and focuses on the teoria da imprevisão (theory of unpredictability) as a legal concept, which, being designed to intervene in situations of unexpected and abrupt alterations to external economic conditions that involve the execution of an administrative contract, is still relevant today. The aim of this paper is to outline some important and controversial aspects of the aforementioned theory, namely in terms of its assumptions, effects and foundations.
