NEWS AND EVENTS 23 Jun 2026
The Portuguese Competition Authority has approved the centralised commercialisation model for audiovisual rights proposed by Liga Portugal and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), under the terms set out in Article 5 of Decree-Law no. 22/2021.
Miguel Gorjão-Henriques, Partner and Head of the Competition and European Union department at SÉRVULO, highlights that this represents “a major day for the international and domestic competitiveness of Portuguese football”, noting that the approval marks “a significant step towards the centralised commercialisation of audiovisual rights”, following several years of technical negotiations between Liga Portugal and the Portuguese Competition Authority, closely accompanied by the FPF.
SÉRVULO, through a multidisciplinary team led by Miguel Gorjão-Henriques, has been advising Liga Portugal and Liga Centralização on the implementation of the legal framework introduced in 2021, which established the mandatory centralised commercialisation of audiovisual rights of clubs and sports companies in Liga Portugal Betclic and Liga Portugal MeuSuper. The team also includes Associate Morgana Grácio (Competition and European Union), as well as partners from various practice areas related to the Sports sector.
