SÉRVULO authored the chapter dedicated to Portugal in the publication Sports Law 2026 by Chambers and Partners, contributing specialist analysis on the legal framework of sport in Portugal within the Law and Practice and Trends and Developments sections. 

Law and Practice:
This chapter presents the legal framework governing sport in Portugal, with a focus on sporting integrity, the fight against doping and match-fixing, as well as the disciplinary and sanctioning mechanisms applicable to sports agents. It also addresses key aspects of commercial rights in sport, including broadcasting rights and image rights, as well as the legal structures of sports organisations and matters relating to intellectual property and data protection. 

Trends and Developments:
For 2025, the main trends identified in the Portuguese sports sector include issues related to safeguarding sporting integrity, the growth of women’s sport and esports, and the evolution of models for commercialising television rights. The year was also marked by significant developments at the European level, with particular impact on professional football, including decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union with structural effects on the transfer system and sports arbitration.
